Read by Frank Castiglione The Way is St. Josemaria’s spiritual classic with
points for meditation and prayer.
St. Josemaría Escrivá writes: “Read these counsels
slowly. Pause to meditate on these thoughts. They are
things that I whisper in your ear—confiding them—as a friend, as a brother, as a
father. And they are being heard by God. I won’t tell you anything new. I will
only stir your memory, so that some thought will arise and strike you; and so you
will better your life and set out along ways of prayer and of Love. And in the end you will be a more worthy soul.”
Each chapter has it’s own track and each CD is labeled with the chapters on that CD.
The second volume of homilies include: Time, Ordinary Life, Freedom, Work, Human Virtues, Humility, Detachment, Getting to Know God, Faith, Hope, Love, Prayer, Holiness, and Our Lady.
Christ Is Passing Byby St. Josemaria Escrivá
This is the first volume of collected homilies by St. Josemari á, the founder of the Prelature Opus Dei. He writes: “I assure you, my children, that when a Christian carries out with love the most insignificant daily action, that action overflows with the transcendence of God.” Topics include: The Christian Vocation, Humility, Marriage, Faith, St. Joseph, Conversion, Interior Struggle, The Holy Eucharist, Christ’s death, The Holy Spirit, Our Lady, The Sacred Heart, Personal Sanctity, and much more.
Way Of The Cross by St. Josemaria Escrivá
St. Josemará wrote: “Christian joy has its roots in the shape of the Cross.” Along the Way of the Cross, there are points to meditate at each station; points that can be applied to our lives and circumstances.
You Can Become A Saint! by Mary Ann Budnik
You Can Become a Saint! explains that sainthood isn't optional. It's the purpose for our existence. John Paul II told us in 1987: "The world needs...saints. Holiness is not the privilege of a few; it is a gift offered to all."
But aren't saints special people? No!! With the grace of God, our determination and applying what the experts consider the ABC's of becoming a saint, we can all grow in holiness. Topics include:
your call to holiness
God's love for you
saint-making
sanctifying one's vocation
developing order
your guardian angel
prayer
the role of Scripture and spiritual reading in the making of saints
the importance of the sacraments, in particular the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist
Our Lady's role in your sanctification
What are virtues and how does one develop them?
the importance of the virtue of fortitude (courage) and how to develop it
why suffer?
and how to utilize God's abundant graces to grow holy.
You Can Become A Saint! is 312 pages. It includes an imprimatur, examination of conscience, plan of life, and spiritual reading.

Looking For Peace? Try Confession! by Mary Ann Budnik explains why there is so much turmoil in our personal lives and in the world. Her book on confession answers the questions: How can I find peace and happiness? Why should I go to confession? What should I confess? Why tell my sins to a priest? What is a mortal sin? Where in the Bible does it mention confession? It’s been so long since I went to confession. What do I say? What do I do? How can I use confession to grow in holiness? How do I examine my conscience?

The Reed Of God by Caryll Houselander
In England during World War II, Caryll Houselander wrote The Reed of God . It was published in 1944. Yet strangely, the times and the world situation seem similar. Her purpose in writing this book was to show Our Lady as a real, breathing woman, who lived a life similar to ours in many ways.
The author found that many people pictured Our Lady as the Madonna on the Christmas card rather than a Woman we can imitate. We can imitate the saints, but each had a different personality and a specific work from God to do which may be different from God’s plan for us. “But,” the author explains, “Our Lady has to include in her vocation, in her life’s work the essential thing that was to be hidden in every other vocation and in every life. She is not only human, she is humanity.
“The one thing that she did and does is the one thing that we all have to do—namely to bear Christ into the world. Christ must be born in every soul, formed in every life.”
The Beatitudes by Rev. F. X. Lasance: 1940 The Beatitudes is the CD version of Fr. F.X. Lasance’s book written in 1940. Fr. Lasance explains that the Beatitudes are the maxims of true wisdom, the fundamentals of Christian morality and the way to real and everlasting happiness.
Besides Fr. Lasance’s deep insight into the Beatitudes, he draws also from the wisdom of various saints and theologians to encourage the laity to strive for sanctity in the midst of the world.
He tells us: “Every human being is continually panting for happiness, the good and the wicked are alike desirous of gaining it, but they seek for it by different means. Christ, therefore, commences His Sermon on the Mount with the Beatitudes, as if He were to say, you all desire to e happy; listen then, and I will point out the ways that lead to felicity…
“Christ honored eight virtues which are contemptible in the eyes of the world with the titles of the Beatitudes…These are poverty of spirit, meekness, sorrow for sins, hunger and thirst after justice, mercy, purity of heart, and making of peace both with God and man, and the suffering of persecutions for Christ sake. You must ascend these steps, if you wish to enter into the joys of your Lord.”

Struggle - Our Destiny by Rev. William Tobin: 1949
Fr. Tobin, in his book and now in this CD set, explains how while we are all called to sanctity (holiness), there is no sanctity without struggle, sufferings, hardships and fatigues. Using the example of soldiers in battle, Fr. Tobin explains why life is a battle, who our enemies are, our weapons, our allies and the virtues that we need to fight the good fight that St. Paul writes about. These virtues are courage, obedience, vigilance and endurance.
Fr. Tobin also warns us about the vices of cowardice, rashness, disloyalty, and disobedience. He then discusses good reading vs. bad reading and concludes with an explanation of sins of the tongue. Next Rev. Tobin explains the beatitudes. The final chapters are devoted to Christ, Our Lady and the Resurrection.
The material from these tapes was first used as a series of weekly radio broadcasts in South Carolina. Fr. Tobin, a native of Ireland, was also a prolific writer both here and abroad.
“By nature and by inheritance, every man has a constitutional flair for combat; but the pity of it is so much of his zeal and competitive spirit is misdirected. He engages in violent physical strife and burns out his energies against the wrong adversary. He deserts the standards of his heavenly King and wields the sword for the passing rewards of time.” Fr. William Tobin
